Duck for President

"Duck for President" is a clever picture book that tells the story of a duck tired of the hard work on Farmer Brown's farm. So he decides to run for office.

Starting small, Duck campaigns to become the leader of the farm, but soon finds himself running for governor and eventually president.

Each step up the political ladder reveals new challenges and responsibilities that Duck hadn't anticipated, from managing paperwork to making speeches.

Eventually, Duck realizes that being in charge is much harder than he thought, and he ultimately returns to the farm, where he takes on a more manageable task.

The book is a playful satire of political campaigns and government, using simple language and exaggerated humor. Duck's adventures introduce children to the concept of elections, leadership, and the responsibilities that come with being in charge. The narrative highlights the importance of hard work, the idea that leadership isn't as easy as it seems, and the sometimes comical nature of politics.

Betsy Lewin’s lively and expressive watercolor illustrations add to the humor and charm of the story.

Doreen Cronin, mom to two daughters in Brooklyn, New York,  is a celebrated author of children’s literature, best known for her humorous and engaging picture books that often feature animal characters in entertaining scenarios. Cronin gained widespread recognition with her debut book, "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type," a Caldecott Honor book.

Betsy Lewin is an award-winning illustrator known for her lively and expressive artwork, often created using watercolor and ink. Also a resident of Brooklyn, she collaborated on "Click, Clack, Moo."
